First challenge for me this year, I signed up the poster for ‘Les Courses de Strasbourg 2023′ (Strasbourg Races). This type of project isn’t easy to illustrate, as it requires juggling many different parameters. What style to use? What angle? And what about the degree of detail? I chose a visual approach that I rarely use in my commissioned work, relying on my sketching experience to preserve the initial drafts’ energy and spontaneity unto the final rendering.

With a snapshot in my mind, I sketched a moment in the race, inviting a variety of participants from seasoned runners to family strollers. My focus when painting was to play with the movement throughout the image and find the right balance among the different characters and silhouettes. Since the event aims to be festive and inclusive, I was thrilled to play freely with colors harmonies and ‘run wild’ with the intensity of hues.

Here’s the research and final result for a project I had the honor to work on with animation studio Eddy. I worked under the direction of Quentin Bailleux, an artist and director whose work I admire for a long time. And, as it it wasn’t enough, the commercial was aired during the Super Bowl and starred Lenny Kravitz, what a chance !

I was asked to create a few designs and turnaround for background characters. As you can see on the images, the portraits I painted were quite detailed at the start but as the project went on, the direction took a more minimalist visual approach.

I had the pleasure to work on Silverpoint, the Sci-fi series produced by the BBC. I was booked during pre-production to create exploration sketches and concept art boards for some key story moments. My artworks were used by Enter Yes, the VFX studio, to discuss with directors and help defining the visual direction. Beware, the images below may reveal some key script elements.

I like to think about the meaning of my images and how they can be understood. I sometimes leave traces leading to different possible interpretations. It’s the case in this greeting card painted in 2019, soon after the beginning of the ‘Yellow vests” movement in France. Depending on your vision of politics, you could either see a parade celebrating the new year and its festivities or a white collar escaping a crowd during a riot.

This picture was shown in a bike art exhibition that traveled in Athens, Volos and Thessaloniki, back in 2016.

Below, the animatic edited with a demo voice-over. It served as a timing reference and helped to pace the film and later direct the recording of the final voice and music. It’s also a key element to help the client better understand the direction and mood of the film.

Once the content of the film and its style is greenlit, we can move on to the serious business: modeling, animating and edition/compositing.

Under the creative direction of the agency, I was responsible for the shots layout and art direction, background paintings and 2D character animation.

Facing handicap is a film commissioned by Dr Oetker. The object is to open discussions about the matter within the company. It evokes the multitude of challenges that employees may face and explains how their company can help them on a daily basis.

Mixing animation and motion design, this film shows the different skills of the company while following the manufacturing of their logo. From the early concept to the final color dressing.

The AFF logo was provided by the agency. I was in charge of the creation which covered the concept, art direction and direction of the film.

Greyscalegorilla’s 5 seconds projects winning entry.

Nearly 5 days of work for only 5 seconds of animation. But good work paid since I got first place.

After 15 years of existence, Linkoffice contacted me to direct a short film presenting there products and services in a new light.

With their expertise, the company decided to adopt a more mature tone in a film blending illustration and 3D animation. This motion design piece is the result of a close collaboration with their teams and the sign of a renewed trust.
